Why was Socrates sentenced to death? Socrates was tried for corrupting the youth and impiety. His accusers cited two "impious" acts: "failing to acknowledge the gods" and " introducing new deities" . They felt he was poisoning the minds of the youth and instead of believing in the gods. He was preaching/teaching students his philosophy. Socrates death was due to his asking philosophical questions. The majority of Athenian citizens chosen to serve as jurors voted to convict him, they chose another vote to punish him with death.
Why is there conflict between science and religion?
I was raised in a family that went to church every Sunday, to believe in God. Facts have shown and places exist that prove the time of Christ. However science is moving fast while religion is slowing down or retreating. Religion is concerned with another world while science is interested in real problems, the now if you will. People view science as magic, science does not undermine the existence of God, but rather reinforces it. Science and Religion actually complement each other, its like two different languages telling the same story. Not by being enemies, by working with each other
