Why is Faqir Chand’s experiences important in understanding the projective nature of religious visions and miracles?
Faqir Chand is a widely worshipped guru who belief about religious visions and miracles is a little different from most gurus. He believes that visions come from within a persons believes rather than from without. He honestly states that he has no awareness of any visions his followers may have of him coming to them in visions explaining that it may come from the persons strong beliefs from within their own mind. “The Unknowing Sage” explains this by saying “The overwhelming majority of inner visions are projections of ones own mind which have no substantial ‘reality check’ with either the outer world or the higher inner regions.” This means that the visions people have are created and only take place in a persons mind and for the most part have no connection with the real world. It is important to help understand that visions come from the strong beliefs a person has in their mind instead of a person actually coming to you in a time of need.
What is meant by the phrase “Philosophy done well is science; philosophy done poorly remains philosophy.”
To me this means that philosophy is meant to act as a driving force for science. Philosophy asks the questions that are meant to be answered by science. Asking the right questions in philosophy will get us results through scientific reasoning and experiments. Philosophical ideas will remain ideas until science proves them true and only then does an idea go from philosophy to science. The questions in life should be able to be answered by one of the sciences first including math, physics, biology, chemistry, and psychology.
