1. Do you think artificial intellifgence will be a significant problem in the future?
I don’t think artificial intelligence will be a significant problem in the future, yet it might be a threat to human kind if it is far exceed our abilities and used in a wrong way. Now, artificial intelligence is applied in computers that help us manage our daily life and resolve complicated problems. We have robotic systems that can perform tasks faster than humans more consistently and accurately. They could capture moment that human eyes can’t get. This topic reminds me of a move called Astro Boy, where as Toby lost his life in one scientific experiment his father was working on. His father decided to build a robot just like him hoped that his son’s spirit could forever live. Nevertheless robots cannot have soul or spirit, they are set by humans. The governor in the movie planned an invasion in the city with his ferocious-made robots with weapons. It will be a threat in the future if whatever in the movie happens.
2. How has technology impacted your life?
Technology is a big part in my daily life. When I was growing up in Hong Kong 16 years ago, I lived in a 12-stories apartment. Although the building is even older than my father, it was equipped with two elevators. It saved me time and energy from taking me up to the ninth floor. When I was in elementary school, I had my first computer with Windows XP system. I remember the only things I know were drawing on paint, play online games, and check email. In the same year, I got my first Nokia cell phone that can only make and receive calls and one snake game installed in it. I also had a talking robot made my childhood special too. As I grow up, I used laptops and touch-screen mobile devices to contact with parents overseas and do most of my homework online. It became a very efficient tool to access to more information and communication.
