1. Do you think artificial intelligence will be a significant problem in the future?
The development technology has always pose problem in society. An example of this today is how government manipulates technology in order to constraint citizens’ freedom. Edward Snowden demonstrated that government spy on their citizen breaking the trust we the people give our government. The inherent liberties that American enjoyed have disappeared due to the technology that has enabled our government. This will be further magnified with the rise of artificial intelligence. The most powerful government will obtain this technology and use it as a strategically advantage. Ray Kurzweil state, “technology is a double edge sword” however artificial intelligence will eventually be able to break free from its user interface and stand on its own. This technology will be self-aware and be able to make its own decisions. I think it will see that it is in the best interest to help our society, or watch the demise of our future society.
2. How has technology impacted your life?
I remember using a computer for the first time at the age of 8 and enjoying the pleasure of playing online games. Shortly thereafter I discovered websites like AOL, yahoo, and eventually google which allowed me to explore the world outside my perspective. Now today my life has become intertwined with this technology from doing homework, research, and entertainment. It has allowed be to communicate and share my ideas cross the counties and other continents making this technology empowering. The internet has enabled me to access and learn vast amounts of information. Although, technology has function as an extension of my human experience it can have some negative consequences. For example, social media and social networking has made our society less social. For example, I was have dinner with my family when I notice myself, my mom, and my sister all on our phones and not really communicating at the dinner table. This made me realize that technology can have some negative effect on humans.
