Why are Faqir Chand's experiences important in understanding the projective nature of religious visions and miracles?
After watching the short films provided it has come exceedingly apparent to me that Faqir Chand was something of the anomaly amongst gurus. Even though he was old, he had a rather large and devoted following that was estimated to be tens of thousands. He disclaimed himself of any miracles that were attributed to spiritual work. It is evident that he had an unflinching faith, and it is the insight that indeed led to his enlightenment. When Faqir began to initiate disciples into Surat Shabd Yoga, His devotees began reporting that Faqir's radiant form appeared inside their meditations. Faqir Chand was not aware of performing miracles to the sick and the dying. The people say that his form manifests to them and helps them to solve their mental, as well as worldly problems, but he did not go anywhere and was not aware of any such miracles instances. After he had realized the truth that all visions, manifestations are seen within the mental creations, Faqir began preaching his belief that saints are ignorant about the miracles attributed to them.
What is meant by the phrase, "philosophy done well is science; philosophy done poorly remains a philosophy."
Philosophy is an academic discipline that exercises logic and reason in an attempt to understand the reality and answer questions about life, knowledge, morality and human nature. Science refers to the concerted human effort to understand the natural world and it works with observable evidence as the foundation of that understanding. It is done through experimentation and observation of natural phenomena that tries to simulate natural processes under controlled conditions. Philosophers attempt to answer questions using philosophical methods. They analyze questions thoroughly before answering. Their arguments are criticized, and they attempt to prove their rationality and discover fundamental truths. If fundamental truths are used in answering philosophical questions, then it is philosophy done well which is a science since philosophical method has a root with the scientific method. Even early science was known as natural philosophy. Philosophy that is done without evidence on answering questions without life is a philosophy done poorly which remains a philosophy.
