Explain the virtual simulation theory of consciousness.
The virtual simulation theory of consciousness is an idea that what we usually see as real is not but is just an illusion that is being formed in our minds. Our consciousness deceives us to see things that are not real. The idea is that, what we do is essentially not real, but rather a simulation influencing our world for us. As explained in the book Is the Universe an App? , it says if consciousness is a virtual simulator then it can simulate anything given the necessary information. This supports the idea of virtual simulation theory since our minds and eyes helps us to see but we can explain clearly if what we see is real. What we see, hear or touch is as a result of our central nervous system processes that reconstruct a virtual environment in which we react accordingly.Consciousness is all, and everything in the virtual hologram of our experiences brought into awareness by the brain. Virtual simulation makes us see things as if they are real, but they are just illusions
How does the brain trick us and for what benefit is it for our genetic survival?
The brain deceives us on how we perceive our environment. Sometimes they guide us into believing that an illusion is a reality and give us answers to many questions that we have in our minds. For example, when we are put in a difficult situation, our brains always guide us in doing what we do not think about when in normal situations. Our brain tricks us through our consciousness. The Brain Burn clip makes it clear consciousness is a way of pure chance by developing an internalized map of probabilities that can be visualized internally without having to be outsourced prematurely. Thus, the tricks that our brains play through our consciousness enable us to survive in our lives. For example, our brains help us to avoid consequences that may be unsafe by enabling us to simulate various scenarios so that we can choose the safest. By so doing, the brains increases the chances of our genetic survival by giving us hope despite the odds in our lives
