Why was Socrates sentenced to death?
The great philosopher Socrates was charged with corrupting the youth with his teachings and rejection the states’ gods. Socrates was man who stood by what he believed and did not fear death because the soul was immortal. The government which set the law that found Socrates guilty completely contradicts the law set by the United States in particular the Bill of Rights. The founding father wrote in the bill of right that man has the freedom of speech, religion, press, and assembly. Progressive thinker such as Socrates paved the way for individual like the founding father to create such Bill of Right where citizens are free to express their ideas and believes. Socrates sought after knowledge and was driving to not only seek knowledge but to spread the knowledge to those around him. Today we call those individual professors or teachers individual who share their knowledge.
Why is there a conflict (for some) between science and religion?
Science and religion can be a sensitive topic to discuss for some individual. These two subjects should not be argued against or for. The fundament purpose of science is to comprehend the universe we exist in. While religion come in different flavors and perspective but all have a fundamental purpose to spiritually guide an individual in one form or another. People have a choice to pin one topic against the other and that’s were conflicts can arise. Religion does not have any evidence to support that god does exist and can prove that he in fact created the universe. While science is built in a system where everything must be question and tested until proven true this process is also known was the scientific method. Religious individual have express that science cannot explain everything or for that matter test and prove certain phenomena as a way to discredit science.
