1. Why was Socrates sentenced to death?
Socrates trial took place in 399 BC where he was sentenced to death on two different charges and then put to death by drinking a poison. One of the charges was for teaching the youth. It was one thing for him to teach them but he was known for corrupting the youth. He taught the youth that there was other Gods out there besides the ones that the Athenians had already acknowledged. Not only was he teaching the youth about these "new" Gods, he was also not acknowledging the Gods that the Athenians acknowledged. This was not okay with the Athenians so they charged Socrates for not acknowledging the gods. As the trial went they decided not to kill Socrates and he was the one who decided it was time for him to go. Even though he was charged with these charges they were not the reason to his death, but his own decision.
2. Why is there a conflict (for some) between science and religion?
For years, actually for however long science has been introduced into the world, there has always been a conflict between science and religion. For both believers they believe they are the right ones on how this world was created. Science believes that this world was created through a cycle called evolution and that they have this all discovered through scientific facts and experiments. As for religion they believe that the world was created by a God and everything including us people were all placed here on earth by God. Science will argue that they have facts and say that theirs is right because they have known facts and religion does not. But as for religion it is through faith and the connection that some have with God. They know that God is there because they have seen him do many things for them and even others around them. Just the faith people get is good enough facts for people that believe he is the reason Earth was created as for scientific they are constantly searching for facts to make their theory of evolution true.
