WEEK 2 Questions/Answers:
Why is understanding physics and the general rules of the universe so important in doing philosophy?
To begin philosophy you must begin with the study or thought of mathematics, ethics, natural science, and morality so with philosophy being such a broad, general, and fundamental area of science it is important to get down to the precise and accurate readings. Like in the videos by Brian Greene ore importantly "The Fabric of the Cosmos" he states what if you took all this stuff away? why do we always see events fall in one direction? why cant we see them fall in reverse direction? according to the laws of physics this can happen. Also stated in the video "physics does radical violence to this everyday experience of time". again we still do not know exactly what space is and these too areas of science are to most closely related to figure and discover the answers to all these questions we have everyday. With philosophy being the questions and hypotheses to all the scientific assumptions and then you have physics which is the pin point mathematical accuracies of our science and universe. just as Hericliteus believed that instead of water being the bases it was indeed fire and that in fact that opposites are very similar and compliment each other very nicely.
What is eliminative materialism?
From what i have been able to conjure and infer about Eliminative materialism is that its really is another broad and general topic in the world of philosophy. With eliminative materialism comes the unknowing or maybe not being able to be explained by all the different sectors of science and in return the old joke that "God did it" is brought into play which to me makes sense haha. Also within this eliminative process we had the "Death of thor" or what you can describe as advances in astronomy, medicine, and physics. in return we began to break things down to the precis accurate physiological materialism and then we then eliminated the spirit and Gods spectrum of reasoning. The last example of the Eliminative Materialism is intellectual reductionism where you eliminate or reduce outcomes and thoughts and then become a better thinker as a being. Also you must learn to understand yourself better and with emotions such as desire, motivation, anger, and free will you may begin to comprehend ones self and then become better in understanding yourself.
