Why is understanding physics and the general rules of the universe so important in doing philosophy
In the film History of Philosophy Dr. Evans said that philosophers are fearless in the pursuit of rational argument and they follow argument wherever they lead even if they are unwelcome areas. Physics is the study of matter, energy and how everything interacts with the world. When you are studying Philosophy your studying about knowledge, reality and existence but I think to understand all of this you need to learn about physics to make a strong argument because you know how natural science works.
What is Eliminative Materialism
Eliminative Materialism is using science and math the determine things that was once explained as “god did it”. The three examples I have are from the film: if something cant be determined by mathematics you go on the physics then chemistry and so on until you can come up with a reasonable conclusion. When science advanced mythological explanations went away and people started using the new scientific terms to understand that was going on in the world and with themselves. When people started the learn the reasons behind how inexplicable phenomena happen.
