1. Socrates was an ancient Greek philosopher; he was born in 469 and died in 399 BC. Socrates was sentenced to death in 399; Plato a friend of Socrates was with him through the whole trial. While Socrates was in prison Plato visited him all the time to document Socrates last thoughts. After Socrates died Plato left Athens to find safety so he could not be charged also. When he returned Plato founded the first school of philosophy, acudemus. Socrates was charged with corrupting the young with his teaching and not believing in the gods known by the state. While on trial Socrates was his own defense. On trial he never admitted or denied not believing in the gods, but he gave several instances where he did obey the states believes. Socrates was sentenced to death by drinking a glass of poison himself. After he received the sentence Socrates met with many of his friends. When it was time he calmly drank the poison went on with his conversation laid down and then died.
2. With some there is a conflict between religion and science. There is a conflict because religion and science; science proves things about how we came here and developed. The main conflict between the two is that spiritual people believe we got here one way and science proves we got here a different ways. A spiritual person would argue that you have to have the faith in a higher power. If a scientist came at the spiritual person with proof of science, matter, and where we come from the spiritual person will argue yes it is true. The spiritual person then will say that god created matter. The main difference between these two types of people are one believes in faith and one believes in facts
